Italy HS Freshman Parent Meeting

Parents of High School Freshmen there will be a meeting Monday, September 14, 2015 from 6-6:30 in the high school cafeteria. You will have an opportunity to meet the high school staff members that are the Freshman Sponsors and discuss opportunities to help the class over the next four years. Please make arrangements to attend.

The Varsity and Junior High Gladiator Cheerleaders will be taking orders for Pink Out t-shirts beginning Monday, August 31 through Friday, September 11th. Order forms will be available at Mrs. Ballards’ foyer office on the Italy HS/JHS campus.

May 25th Uruguay meeting cancelled

Due to weather conditions, the Uruguay meeting set for after school today is cancelled. Mr. Guidry, the planner and trip sponsor will be available to meet with any parents/others who would like information about the trip after school from 3-3:45 p.m. this week. About a year ago, Isaac Garcia, an 8th grade student from Italy ISD, became involved in the Texas Brigades, a state-wide group that promotes wildlife conservation and leadership skills.

IHS Theater department to perform Voices

The Italy High School Theater Department presents Voices by Richard Lortz. A one-act drama depicting the plight of a stranded couple inside an abandoned New England mansion, in the midst of an epic blizzard, on the heels of devastating personal tragedy, all while experiencing communication issues with each other. Sound familiar? Well, come anyway.

Meet Kelli Ballard, receptionist at Italy JHS/HS, Kelli is an Italy HS graduate; her three children currently attend Italy ISD. She is glad to answer any questions you may have regarding school business. If she doesn’t know the answer, she’ll find someone who does.

Erica Miller, the counselor at Italy JHS/HS, wears many hats. From counseling to scheduling to coordinating many events, her determination to do her job well shows. She enjoys working with students and putting them on a track for success.

Lee Joffre, Italy’s secondary campus principal, is serving his fourth year as a Gladiator. He enjoys working with his staff and students whether it’s academically or supporting their extra-curricular activities.

Junior Class Parent Meeting: Monday, February 9, 2015

Junior class parents interested in assisting with prom arrangements and hearing updates on the big event are invited to attend a parent meeting on Monday, February 9, 2015, at 6 p.m. in the high school library. Italy Junior High 8th grade science class and the International Space Station

The 8th grade science class had the opportunity to link up with the International Space Station last week. The students were able to send photo requests during certain orbits to the astronauts. The students were studying weather so they were using a real time weather map while pin-pointing coordinates on the globe and requesting a photo from the ISS of the location. The students had a total of 250 photos taken.

IHS canned food drive for Italy Food Pantry—Everybody Won!

The Italy National Honor Society, sponsored by Tina Richards, the Italy Junior High National Honor Society, sponsored by Casey Holden, and the Italy HS/JHS student council, sponsored by Vivian Moreland, held their annual canned food drive competition, and EVERYBODY WON, donating 540 cans of food to the Italy Food Pantry! The Pantry volunteers cannot thank you enough for the wonderful contribution you have made to the Italy Food Pantry.
